Aged Pu-Erh (Yunnan)

The dark, tightly twisted leaves of this aged Pu-Erh yield a strong and fragrant brew. It is mellow in taste, but carries a smoky wood flavour that adds to this tea’s natural earthy tone. Aged Pu-erh can be steeped twice; the first steeping should be 2-3 mins, or longer if you desire a very strong brew. The next steeping can be much shorter, about 1 minute.

Pu-erh tea helps you to lose weight by helping to increase the speed of digestion. Pu-erh tea will accelerate the movement of fat from the stomach to the colon without giving the fat time to be absorbed by the body. It can also help you to lose weight by speeding up your metabolism, as well the caffeine present in this tea triggers your body to secrete hormones responsible for metabolizing stored fatty acids in fat cells. The best time to drink a cup of Pu-erh tea for weight loss is one hour after a meal, so that the Pu-erh tea can remove excess grease and help your body eliminate unwanted, leftover, and hard-to-digest fats. Avoid drinking Pu-Erh tea before a meal since while cleansing your system, it can make you hungrier and cause you to overeat, resulting in potential weight gain. When you do eat, try to avoid fatty foods as Pu-erh tea can only remove so much residue and fat in your stomach and digestive organs.
Pu-Erh tea, also known as Yunnan, is a variety of fermented tea produced exclusively in the Yunnan province of China. This “aged” or “vintage tea” is unlike any tea in the world, but Westerners can appreciate its similarities in taste to fine wine; and like fine wine, Pu-Erh tea undergoes strict regulations to ensure the highest quality and authenticity. And just like wine, with each year stored, the taste of Pu-Erh becomes more defined, flavourful and smooth. Pu-Erh tea is highly valued in Chinese medicine, helping to target an array of health issues, and popularly used to control weight and aid in digestion.
