Our Detoxify—German Blend have been generating a lot of interest lately. So we’ve decided to do a summary of just what this detox tea is all about.
For those who have never heard of The German Blend or seen it on our page, we’re going to give a quick (maybe not so quick) run-down on the purpose and benefits of this herbal tea blend.
Our detox tea is called Detoxify—German Blend. It is an old German recipe made from organic herbs and roots that are meant detoxify your body, rid it of impurities and bring it back to balance.
Although all of the herbs in this German Blend are crucial and adds to the overall effectiveness of the detox process, we are going to go over just a few of the ingredients in this herbal blend in order to highlight the main components that make this tea an excellent choice for detoxifying your body naturally and gently.
Before we jump right in, we do need to tell you a little about detoxification. Detoxification is really a means of cleansing the blood: that is the purpose of detox teas. Toxins in our blood are eliminated via a few routes in the body: the skin (appearing sometimes as eruptions, acne, rashes or just as sweat), through the lymphatic system (blood vessels that lead to the subclavian veins at the base of the neck are cleansed and then returned to the body), the lungs (through exhale), the small intestines (as bowel movements), the kidney (through urine) and the liver.
The kidney and liver are really the main organs responsible for removing impurities from the blood. With that being said, it is extremely important that when we do cleanse our system that the detox method we use also works to strengthen and not drain our crucial detox organs. We need them to stay strong and healthy so that they can perform their duties at the optimal level. That’s why the use of gentle and natural herbs is the most effective and safest way to detox.
Also emphasizing the role of antioxidants in the detoxification process; when our bodies produce harmful free radicals, it’s the antioxidants that help to neutralize these free radicals, disabling them and thereby removing them from our system. This effect in turn boosts overall health, allowing your bodily functions—whether it is digestion, immune function or detoxifying, to work properly.
Okay, let’s start with one of the main ingredients of our detox blend:
Liquorice root: This sweet tasting root contains an agent called glycyrrhiziz acid. This chemical promotes detoxification through the liver, while also helping to strengthen liver health. Liquorice root has the ability to stop liver damage in its tracks and then repair the damage that was already there. Potent antioxidants in liquorice protect the liver from oxidative stress and inflammation. In addition, liquorice flavonoids also have the special ability to help heal the digestive tract and soothe gastrointestinal problems.
Rooibos and Honeybush: This combination offers more than just its nutty-sweet taste. These fragrant, antioxidant-filled leaves come from South African shrubs and are known for boosting liver health and speeding up the metabolism, which helps to promote weight loss. On a side note, they make a very tasty tea on their own.
Burdock root: Another extraordinary herb containing an abundant of multiple types of free-radical-fighting antioxidants. It is a great blood purifier, helping the body get rid of impurities through lymphatic drainage. Recent evidence has demonstrated that burdock root effectively detoxified blood and promoted an increase in blood circulation (link to study below).
Lemongrass: According to one study, this citrusy herb has been shown to boost the levels of red blood cells in the body (link to study below). It also has a diuretic effect on the body, which means that it stimulates the kidneys to produce more urine than normal. This in turn helps the body release harmful toxins from the body. A diuretic effect like this can be beneficial in cases where water retention leads to bloating. Reduced bloating means a flatter abdomen.
Red clover: Apart from being high in the antioxidant vitamin C, red clover has the ability to stimulate the production of white blood cells—these cells are responsible for your immune health. But this herb is especially helpful to women during menstruation, PMS, and menopause. The chemicals found in red clover mimics estrogen, so women struggling to maintain estrogen levels can greatly benefits from drinking a tea containing this herb.
